sunday snapshots

on the walk home from church

She loves that brother of hers.
When I see them like this it makes me so happy that she's got a big brother.
I hope he turns into the brother that adores his little sister and treats her like a princess.
We're not quite there yet. Thankfully, there's still time.

napping and snoring

Dan picked out Babe to watch for our afternoon entertainment.
Have you seen Babe?
The one with the pig and Farmer Hoggett and "That'll do, pig. That'll do."
And the sheep and the duck and the dogs and bah ram ewe.
It's one of my favorites. Such a sweet movie.

sorting

I found this box full of badges (or patches or whatever you call them) in the garage.
There's lots of them. Hundreds? Maybe.
I'm no crafty person but I've been thinking I could do something with them.
Nothing that involves sewing of course.
I've got to stay true to myself.
I don't think crafty is staying true to myself either but I'm branching out.

chocolate cake with cousins

Just an excuse to make that yummy peanut butter frosting again.
Danny came into the kitchen after I'd taken the cake out of the oven.

Can I have a little taste to make sure it's good?
(he took a pinch off the corner)
It's actually good.
Can I have a little slice?
(I said no so he took another pinch)
Now I know it's seriously good.
Can I have a big chunk?
(I gave in and cut off a chunk)

And miracle of all miracles, my non-frosting loving boy ate a piece of cake with frosting!
He loved it.

two thumbs up

I left the kids at Aunt Judy's house with their cousins and Dan.
Right now I'm watching Food Network Star and enjoying the peace and quiet.
Remember how I have finger toes?
That's my two thumb toes up for a quiet Sunday evening all by myself.
I could seriously get used to this.

it snowed

Sunday morning

Cate was so happy.

She tried to build a snowman.
No success.
She gets an A for effort though.

It's all melted now.
It was good while it lasted.

finally

It wasn't much but it was enough for Cate to scoop into a big bite and shove into her mouth without getting a pile of dirt and dead leaves in it too.

That was all I was hoping for anyway.

It's mostly melted now.

I'll just sit here and look at that picture of my stinkin' adorable kids while I patiently await the next storm.

Do you love their rain boots in the snow as much as I do?

Good.

the greatest snow on earth

It's January and I'm still waiting for our first snow storm of winter.

What's the hold up?

I hate driving in the stuff but I love to shovel it. It's a good workout, especially if the snow is wet.

Danny and Cate love to eat it. Especially if it's been on the ground. These kids are hungry.

Just the other day, Danny was singing a song about eating icicles. Something about how the best ones are hanging off the house.

These kids are anxious for some snow.

* * *

That's my favorite picture of Grandma's house.

The house we live in.

I'm wishing things looked like this outside right now. Or soon at least.

* * *

And just for fun, here's the picture of the same house now. Well, the tree has lost its leaves but everything else is pretty much where it belongs.

Candis painted this picture for me.

I love it.

Home sweet home.

I just wish there were 3 inches of snow on the roof right now.

And about the same amount covering up all the dead leaves of fall that I didn't rake up.

* * *

p.s. Click on Candis up there. It's a link to her free printable LOVE banner for Valentine's Day! Cute stuff!

p.p.s. Happy birthday to Uncle Tim! Danny was shocked to find out yesterday that Uncle Tim is Dan's big brother. Totally shocked. I promise I've told him before.

Fear not.

Ray Ray immediately started using his magic wand as a sword (or light saber or whatever kind of stick that you hit people with) right after I took these pictures.

the force is strong at our house

...and so cute it'll darn near kill ya.

So we're a little over 7 months late for this but here it is.
Cate was finally ready to wear her Halloween costume from last year.

After I took these pictures (on my cell phone, hence the poor quality),
Cate pushed her toy shopping cart over to Danny and said,

"C'mon, Darth. Let's go shopping."

I kid you not.

Maybe they'll buy me a two liter of Yoda soda.

in the news

I wonder how Dan will feel when he comes home from his meeting and sees what his little darlings did to his stack of newspapers that he still needs to read.

I'm hoping for proud.

That he's taught them so well, of course.

In my defense, it all went down while I was in the bathroom getting ready for church.

They're quick little trouble makers, that's for sure.

love this girl

I sure do love this little girl.

Even when she keeps me up at night.
Twice in one night.

Even when I have to clean puke off her blankets.
And out of her hair.

I might love her even more
{although I'm not sure that's even possible}
if she'd let me get a decent amount of sleep tonight.

That's what I'm hoping for.
But even if she doesn't,
I'll still love her.

Just look at that face.
How could I not?

mini darth

I personally think she'd make a much cuter Princess Leia but monkey see, monkey do.

If I can convince Danny to come over from the Dark Side (and figure out how to make a Luke Skywalker costume that doesn't look like a night in Bethlehem...the blue lightsaber should help)

and if I can get Cate's hair to grow by leaps and bounds (you know, enough to twist it around into a big cinnamon bun over each ear) all before October 31st,

then we might just have our Halloween costumes figured out seven months early.

Maybe I could be Jabba the Hutt and Dan could be Chewbacca.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

she's so likable

They say genes skip generations.
Maybe that's why grandparents find their grandchildren so likable.
