Girls camp

When I was asked to be the young women's president I said yes pretty quickly. Girls camp is a big reason why.

I love it.

I'm thrilled that my parents were kind enough to come all the way to Utah to watch the kids for the week so Dan and I could go together. He's a pro at setting up the tents so we like to keep him around.

I love the mountains and the trees and being in the woods with a bunch of teenage girls for a few days. I could do without the tattling and the not loving each other every minute of every day but whatever. You take the good with the bad right?

And even though we couldn't have campfires this year it was still grand.

Dan stole the show on skit night with his rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believin'. (I'm putting it in italics even though it might be proper to have quotation marks. Just so you know that I'm aware that there's some kind of protocol for that stuff but I don't care enough to figure it out.)

His name was Dan of Ages and man, can he rock! Wowzers. If teaching doesn't work out for him it's good to know he's got something to fall back on.

I made a video of his performance. It's on my phone and I can't figure out how to get it off. Very frustrating. When I get it, I'll add it here. Until then, just imagine.

Just a small town girl.
Livin' in a lonely world.
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere.

Just a city guy.
Born and raised in South Lehi.
He took the Frontrunner goin' anywhere.

And then the chorus (don't stop believin' blah blah blah) except add the falsetto voice in there for the last repeat. It was killer.

I'm already excited for next year.

That's how big of a goober I really am.

Just in case there was any doubt.

I figured out how to get the video off my phone! Some kind of doo-hickey called a card reader or some such nonsense.

Just a little explanation about the skit. We were given a bag full of random stuff and were told to use the random stuff in a skit. Somehow this is what we ended up with. A bunch of screaming teenage girls going to a Dan of Ages concert. Guess whose idea it was to have a skit where adoring fans were screaming for him and he got to pretend to be a rock star. Hmmmmm.

p.s. Dan totally gave me his blessing to post his performance on the internet. I promise. Don't worry a bit about his dignity and pride. He's fine.

Oh, I hope you figure out how to post that video. I really need to see it. I love that song and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I'm glad you two had fun at camp!
