a historic day

I saw a movie today.
I saw a movie today at the movie theater.
I saw a movie today at the movie theater all by myself.

This one.

I'm 36. For the first time my life I went to the movies by myself.
I used to think it was weird for people to go to the movie theater alone.

Who does that?
Loners?
Losers?
Weirdos?
People with no friends?

Now I know the real answer.

People who are desperate to get out of the house and away from the little people (even though they love them with all their hearts) for a few short hours.

People who have husbands with the day off work who can stay home and take care of the little people (even though they'll be napping for a portion of the movie time).

People who have a rain check for the last movie they attempted to see at the movie theater with one of the little people.

The movie was great.
I took notes.
I guess I am a weirdo after all.

Good for you! I saw it, too, but husband agreed to accompany me -- and I have no little people anymore to hamper me. A few years ago, I was in SLC, dreaded going home as Kirk was asleep, and I was upset with the people living with us at the time. I just didn't want to be there that night. I bit the bullet and went to Olive Garden all by myself. It was so brave of me. I thoroughly enjoyed myself -- except that the waitress forgot I wanted a VIRGIN margarita. I figured it out after a couple of sips and laughed all the way home. Especially since the reason I was upset with the people at my house had to do with alchohol. Never told them, but husband and other kids have teased me to death over drinking and driving!

Oh, Gramma Hunny! That's hilarious. I'm not brave enough to go out to eat alone yet. Maybe in another 36 years.
