the christmas card that wasn't

We didn't send out Christmas cards last year. My bad. I was entirely too overwhelmed (what's new?) and the thought of letting someone take my picture with all my wrinkles, gray hairs and yellowing, crooked teeth didn't sound very appealing. Imagine that. I don't know why I'm so hard on myself but with years of practice, I'm so very good at it now.

So here's the picture that maybe I would have used 2 months ago had I had my act together.

Merry Christmas!

Don't you love how we're lounging on the bed with our shoes on? Eeek. And how Cate isn't wearing a drop of pink! That never happens so take note.

I'll have you know that computers are marvelous things (just in case you hadn't figured that out already). I blurred out about 75% of my wrinkles in this picture (and a few on Dan's face too but he doesn't have many to begin with...why am I so dang wrinkly?). I also whitened our teeth and did a little shrinky magic so we don't look as plump as we really are. It's the truth. (No children were harmed in the de-wrinkling of this photo. They're perfect just how they are.)

I just love my little family.

I was going to title this post "the whole famdamily" but I thought maybe that was sort of cursing so I decided against it. But it reminded me of a funny story.

I remember this one time I was at the home of some church members and their friend came over (also a church member but I don't know why I'm adding in that detail...not sure it makes any difference but why not). I guess it was a friend who hadn't seen this family for a while. I can't remember. He was greeted at the door with hearty hellos and a few hugs.

As they chatted in the entryway, the visitor gazed upon the many framed pictures of the family adorning the wall. And then he proclaimed in a loud voice, "Well, look at that. It's the whole damn family! Oh, uh, um, the whole famdamily!"

Awkward but completely awesome. Still makes me chuckle.

Thanks to the photographer lady at FotoFly for the lovely picture. I think her name was MaKenZee or MaKaylah or something like that. She worked hard for her money today that's for sure. Danny was stingy with the smiles.

That is a great photo!! Merry Christmas. ;) I love late Christmas presents.

That story made me laugh so hard, I woke my sleeping baby. True statement. I can hear your voice telling it, and it makes it funnier.
