hard boiled egg chocolate chip cookies

I've found my favorite chocolate chip cookies (other than the kind you buy at the Mrs. Field's store in the mall). I like 'em thick and chewy. None of those flat, crispy cookies for me.

This recipe is from my friend, Stephanie's blog. We went to school together, elementary on up to high school. We lost touch after graduation and now we're facebook friends. See? Facebook is good for something besides wasting the day away. It brought me to the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever.

And yes, there are hard boiled eggs in the recipe. Kind of weird, but that's got to be what makes the cookies so good. The recipe calls for a food processor. I don't have one. Well, I do have one but it's a mini. It shreds and grates and that's about it. I used a mixer instead. It worked ok. The dough is really dry and crumbly (since there's no raw eggs to make it gooey). I think I'd like to try a food processor next time though. My birthday is coming up soon (hint hint...Dan, Grama Bama, anyone else who cares about me enough to buy me a present that I would totally love).

But wait, there's more. Today Stephanie posted a recipe for amazing hard boiled egg oatmeal toffee cookies (that's a mouthful...a really yummy mouthful). I can't wait to try them too. If there's anything I've got plenty of, it's oatmeal.

Yea!! I am so glad you liked the cookies! They are the best ever! The oatmeal cookies are just as good. Make sure you try them. We have declared both of these as our new favorite cookie!

Why not ask your FATHER to get you a food processor. He LOVES cookies.

Cathy,
Wow, these are interesting! Definitely something I would love to try to make. Although, 2 sticks of my expensive dairy butter.....hmmm....and semi-sweet chips don't have dairy, but toffee does. We'll see. I mean, when you say BEST do you mean BEST? Anyway, what I"m getting at is this: You need a food processor. I opted for a nice food processor instead of a Kitchen Aid when I was picking out wedding gifts. I've used it a ton. I used it more when we had a dishwasher because I'm not in love with washing it by hand. I would love for you to borrow it to see how you would like a food processor! It's a Cusinart. You could make these cookies, AND pesto. And I can't decide if you were serious when you said you hadn't heard of pesto before.

excuse me but I meant to say, "expensive, dairy-free butter"

Ella, did I say BEST? Oh. Well, what I really meant to say was BEST! When I'm ready to make the oatmeal version I'd love to borrow your food processor. I've heard of pesto but I can't imagine why anyone would want to make their own sauce out of leaves. It baffles me.

Trying the cookies today. Kirk's brother Steve is a cookie connoiseur. He also raises dozens of tomato plants for our garden in his greenhouse, and we're going to pick them up from him tomorrow. I think Hardboiled Chocolate Cookies are just the ticket!

I'm finally making these today!

Pesto! I grow massive amounts of basil to make my own. So good on toasted little bagette pieces. Mmmm

I'm glad I have a food processor. You can make pesto in a little one. If I was still there, I'd let you use all my little gadgets. I'm a little freakish about having to have all of them. Oh, I'm writing a book. Sorry.

I'll let you know if these cookies are as good as my Mrs. Field's recipe! ;p

I'll admit, I wanted to use my food processor more than really eat cookies with hard boiled eggs in them. Other than the egg smell while I processed them, they are really good! I'm surprised! I didn't have any toffee chips, just choc chunks.
