enjoy the ride

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time
running around shouting that he has been robbed.
The fact is that most putts don't drop,
most roast beef is tough,
most children grow up to be just people,
most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration,
most jobs are more often dull than otherwise.

Life is like an old time rail journey...
delays,
sidetracks,
smoke,
dust,
cinders and jolts,
interspersed only occasionally by
beautiful vistas and
thrilling bursts of speed.

The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley

I found this quote on a little piece of blue paper yesterday as I was cleaning out a drawer.
I had copied it from somewhere years ago.
I sure am glad I found it again.
Seems like it's just what I needed to hear.
That's probably why I wrote it down the first time.

I might have too much stuffed into my overhead compartment,
my boarding pass is ripped,
my flight has been delayed
and the bag of peanuts is just way too small,

but I sure do have the best travel companions.

You have such a good attitude. But, with your companions, what else could you have? :) And you look so skinny!

Ha! Whatever. I had a good attitude for about 5 minutes this morning. And stop saying I look skinny. It's just the camera angle.

beautiful Cathy. Promise you'll take good care of Ethan when he comes out this summer with Mom. He thinks he'll be gone for months & months but he has no sense of time yet. Please give him lots of love and spoil him as if he was your own (like I know you will). I'll be there about halfway through for a visit but will really need you & Judy (and Dan & Dave) to keep him occupied and happy. I love you!!!

Jenny, I shall do my best. He'll be happy. How could he not? Don't worry.
